Fixation Punjab Rules
What is pay ?
Pay : - According to Rule 2.44 of The Punjab Civil Service Rules Volume I (Part I) Pay means Basic Pay. Basic pay is Pay in pay band plus grade pay, in simple words Basic pay includes Grade pay. It is the amount drawn monthly by a Government employee in the scale of pay of the post held by him. Moreover, basic pay includes any other emoluments which may specifically be classed as part of pay by the competent authority.
What is Pension ?
Pension : - Pension is the monthly payment made to a Government employee after the retirement, who has 10 years or more qualifying service.
What is qualifying service ?
This
blog is for helping the officials/employees working in State Government of
Punjab who are having difficulty in fixation of pay or they are not known about
the procedure to be adopted for fixation of pay. We will try to cover all the

Pay fixation is done according to The Punjab Civil Service Rules Volume
I (Part I) and Pension fixation is done according to The Punjab Civil Service
Rules Volume II. Before learning pay and pension fixation one must know about
what is pay and what is pension.

Pension : - Pension is the monthly payment made to a Government employee after the retirement, who has 10 years or more qualifying service.
What is qualifying service ?
For
the purpose of pension, service of a Government employee which is qualify for
pension is called qualifying service. Qualifying service starts when the
Government employee takes charge of the post (eligible for pension) to which he
is fist appointed. (Refer rule 3.8 of Punjab Civil Service Rules Volume II.
